Why everyone should read this: I doubt anyone noticed yet but my first four rec's were supposed to get people who aren't necessary H/Hr shippers interested into this ship. That's why all four rec's are also post-HBP. My last four FanFic rec's however will be some older FanFics yet still, I hope so, worth reading. Starting with one of my favourite Stories I was lucky enough to find on a Messageboard a couple of years ago Dumbledore's Feint. This one was shortly after OotP posted. At that time I was more than fascinated by the Muggle and Wizard conflicts. In my opinion I expected that at some point or another JKR ought to adress this issue probably yet she never did so far something what makes this kind of stories even more special to me. The only conflicts we read are the one with the Dursleys and they simply hate magic so how would a loving Family react on the prospect their dear child was so close to face death by an age of 15 or 16? I wondered about that since I thought Dumbledore certainly would inform the Grangers if something happens to Hermione. So how would they react? This FanFic plays with that and I may say it plays really well with that too. Added to this the whole H/Hr part isn't fluff or just all about harmony contrary I've never read in a novel length story a similar difficult setting or pairing facing conflicts over conflicts with each other and the situation. In any case this story is worth reading just because it wasn't written by your usual H/Hr shipper.
Excerpt:
Harry was standing beside the heavy, old wooden door straining to hearthe conversation within the room. He leaned against the cold stone walland studied the Maurauder’s Map, which he was clutching. NevilleLongbottom had his wand out and stared over Harry’s shoulder at themap. They looked at each for a moment not sure what to do.
The map revealed that inside this very room the last of the trueMaurauders was stashed in a small antechamber hidden from the twoDeath-Eaters arguing in the main room. Bellatrix Lestrange and PeterPettigrew could not find the thing for which they had come. Across theroom was another wooden door obscuring three figures. Harry saw on themap that Ron and Ginny Weasley as well as Luna Lovegood were in asimilar predicament as Harry and Neville. Harry knew he had to make hismove before his friends put themselves in harms way.
Harry looked up from the map and guffawed. Out of harms way, he though angrily, if they were in harms way at Hogwarts, he didn’t know where out of harms way was anymore.
He glanced down at the map one more time to try gain composure only tosee two miniature figures quickly approaching the map version ofhimself and Neville. Harry looked to his left and caught a glint from acrystal Hermione was wearing around her waist before he could actuallysee her eyes. Harry could see the side of her robes drenched with theblood that was slowing dripping from too long gashes the length of bothof her forearms. Neville made a move to hex her companion, but Harrystopped him.
“Don't,” Harry warned before turning on Hermione, “How did he get away from you?”
“I’m not exactly at the top of my game right now,” she hissedindicating her bloodstained arms. “Harry listen carefully,” she was nowadding urgently, “he can’t use magic or have magic used on him untilhe’s stronger. He wouldn’t listen to reason. One stunner may do him infor good, do you understand?”
Harry nodded grimly. He didn’t understand though, not really; but whatwas done was done and he wasn’t going to let anyone die….not again.

It's currently about a third to a half, perhaps, of the way through the sequel, and currently hitting high points with the latest plot developments. Very much recommended!
